Sekarang ini, hanya dibutuhkan sebuah flash disk mini dan program seperti UNetBootin untuk menciptakan sebuah Linux portabel yang bisa dijalankan di semua komputer yang mendukung boot dari USB. UNetbootin memiliki daftar distro yang didukung, tetapi tidak memberikan petunjuk mana pilihan yang terbaik untuk digunakan.
Di bawah ini, terdapat 4 program yang tidak perlu dijalankan dari hard disk yaitu: Damn Small Linux, Puppy Linux, Xubuntu dan Fedora. Baca beberapa penjelasannya di bawah ini dan silakan tentukan mana yang terbaik bagi anda.

Distro yang berukuran sangat kecil dan efisien yang menggunakan versi lama dari kernel Linux. Sangat cocok untuk perangkat keras yang sudah berumur tetapi tidak disarankan untuk digunakan di PC baru. 
Sistem ringan yang bisa di-boot dan dijalankan sepenuhnya pada USB. Jika sistem memiliki RAM yang lebih dari 256MB, Puppy bisa memindahkan dirinya penuh ke RAM disk sehingga Anda dapat mencabut flash disk Anda dari komputer dan terus mengoperasikan Puppu Linux. 
Pada dasarnya adalah Ubuntu yang dioptimisasi untuk mengoperasikan Xfce desktop environment yang jauh lebih ringan dari Gnome. 
Proyek Fedora memiliki fitur Live USB maker yang dapat dipakai di Windows sehingga mengemas Fedora ke dalam sebuah USB tanpa merusak data-data lain sangatlah mudah.

Installation and use
After downloading just extract all files and start using it! In main folder you will find SciTE editor preconfigured and ready to use. To start Portable Python script Runner start PortablePython.bat and add "script <-> argument" sets to it. You can also run a script without adding it. There is also option to run scripts in same process but be careful with that one, if the script becomes not responsive (infinite loop or something like that) entire portable python script runner GUI will become not responsive.
IMPORTANT !
In this version of Portable Python it's not possible to set current directory for a script when it's run (working folder) so all scripts are run in a root of the portable python distribution. For example if you run django-admin.py startproject mysite project will be created in "mysite" folder in the root of the portable python. This issue can be simply resolved by copying that project folder (or cut paste) to another location and then you can continue to enjoy Django (or other python program)!
